Srinagar, Mar 13 (KNO): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that peace and progress in Jammu and Kashmir are top priorities of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Leader of Opposition in Jammu & Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, who called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi this evening, according to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), was assured by the Union Home Minister that “the peace and progress in Jammu & Kashmir will remain top priority of Modi government and every step will be taken to ensure the socio-economic elevation of its residents.”
It said, “LoP Sharma discussed key issues with the Home Minister. “Sharma briefed the Home Minister about issues pertaining to the security, development, and the ongoing Budget Session in J&K Legislative Assembly,”
LoP Sharma, the statement said, that J&K has been a region of strategic significance, and has faced numerous security and developmental challenges. “All these issues are deeply intertwined and require a rigorous multi-pronged approach by the government led by PM Modi.
He also discussed the issue of recent terror incidents in the region with the Union Home Minister. He requested him to further increase the road connectivity to the remote areas of the region. He (Sharma) brought into notice various factors to facilitate the sustaining economic ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir by putting stress on the key areas like tourism, industry, and business,” the statement added, as per KNO.
Sharma also highlighted the rise in drug abuse and narcotics trafficking in J&K, emphasizing the need for urgent intervention, it said, adding, “The LoP also deliberated with the Union Home Minister on the Budget session in J&K Legislative Assembly discussing the minute details of the Budget.
He highlighted the key points of discussions in the sessions and the impact of the Budget on the socio-economic conditions of the residents and the ongoing development process in J&K.”—(KNO)
